Came here on a whim after a work seminar, and was blown away by the flavor of the Italian sandwich. An exceptional take on a classic sandwich, and from a take out window nonetheless! There was a small line and a group of others waiting for their orders, but the service was quick and friendly. The staff at the window answered all my first timer questions and I decided on their most popular sandwich. I really can't recommend this sandwich spot enough! If you ever find yourself in the after you definitely have to give it a try!
If I could give 100 stars I would!! These are the best hoagies and sandwiches you will have in the DMV. I can understand why they have been around for 11 years. I am sad that this was my first time going, but I will definitely be back and I have been raving about the steak and cheese, the Italian hoagie, the chicken Parm, the Bolognese sub!!!! When I go back, I'm definitely going to try the chicken salad. I love that. They bake their own bread and that they use fresh ingredients that they make themselves even down to the pepper sauce. The individuals who work the order window are also very very nice! Great service
We came on a Saturday for lunch. You order at the window and they will call ur number. No seating so you'll have to eat somewhere else. They also have a $5 min for credit card. We waited a little bit for the food, it's a bit pricey but everything was delicious! The chips were $5 and tasted like regular chips so might not be worth it. The subs were amazing, i got the Italian and it was packed with meat. There was fresh Parmesan cheese and it had an oil on the sandwich that was so good. Definitely expect to wait and go on a day with nice weather since you'll prob have to eat outside.
Probably the best Italian sandwich I've ever had. It was incredible. You'll pay a premium price, took about 15 min to get food, and I had to take back to the hotel to eat (minimal outside seating and it was too hot out), but it was worth it. Sesame bun was awesome. It was so good.
They no longer let you into the restaurant. As I found out while standing in the pouring rain at lunchtime. You must order from window. All sandwiches appear to be $12 for a half and $24 for a whole. Seems a bit lazy that they do not different on price regardless of the ingredients- that somehow seems lazy to me. They also no longer offer cheesesteaks. The girl at the window said they just couldn't make any money on them because the meat was so expensive. That seemed silly because where else is a cheesesteak $24? I tried the Brisket and Eggplant Parmesan hoagies. They add surcharge if you pay with credit card. An expensive deli for sure! With a nice tip I spent over $60 bucks for two sandwiches a no drinks - no chips. A fool and his money are soon parted...( I could hear my father's voice...) Both sandwiches were tasty no complaints on flavor and I'll probably come back to try the Italian hoagie and the Hebrew hammer. It is a quirky spot for sure located on a block with a couple of strip joints. I do like to support local businesses especially since the DC mayor pretty much cleared out many small restaurants through horrendous policies during and after pandemic. Including a light touch on crime :(
Honestly I can't believe this place doesn't have a higher rating, which is saying something given that they're around 4.4 stars right now. I ordered a half chicken Parmesan sandwich ($12). Unless you eat like Michael Phelps, half is probably enough! I could barely finish it and I consider myself a pretty big eater. The sandwich is excellent, one of the best I've had. The bread was sturdy, with a little crunch and a lot of flavor. It survived a fifteen-minute walk to the park in excellent condition. Each side was painted with either marinara or pesto. I was surprised by the pesto but it actually worked really well! Enveloped by all these ingredients was a gargantuan pile of breaded and fried chicken. Each piece was tender and quite flavorful. They could have sold the chicken for $25 if they plopped it on a plate with some pasta. But lucky for us, they put it in an even tastier setting and charged less money for it. This sandwich oozed hot and cheesy deliciousness from start to finish. I'll be back for sure, hopefully to try another sandwich, though it's hard to see myself getting away from such a star.
Omg....in love with this. This is half a sandwich and I struggled to finish it. I don't even want to think about how big a full sandwich is. Had the fried chicken cutlet sandwich, which was warm , juicy and had a lot of fresh veggies on it. This is a must try-if I worked nearby id get this every day. Service was fast. The place is just a walk up window and ordering is easy.
This is my favorite sandwich shop without doubt. My all time favorite is the Bulgarian feta, super fresh with very balanced but stunning flavors. However, the last time I visited I just couldn't find it on the menu, and I was in a rush, so I ended up ordering chicken Parmesan. The chicken Parmesan was just as great! (I'm usually not a fan) There is no dine in, but there are some outdoor seats near by. You can also order ahead to pickup and avoid the queue. Portion is HUGE!
I am in love with Bub and Pop's sandwiches. Just thinking about the Italian hoagie has my mouth watering. Stumbled across this place as I was in route to another spot and boy did they not disappoint. The Italian sandwich was loaded with meat and flavor. This establishment has a smooth system going as well from ordering at one window and picking up at the next. A well oiled machine. I also tried their Italian ice which came with real fruit. Definitely needed on a warm summer day
